Our history

Since inception, Linguistico has grown into a thriving and well-respected translation company in the UK, Europe, Australia and beyond.

Linguistico was started as a specialist legal translation company by David Salter, a former lawyer, in Sydney in early 2008. There was a clear gap in the market for quality legal translation work as law firms were all too often undertaking this work in-house using people who were not qualified and did not have time to do the job properly.

Our very first project saw us translating a driving licence from Italian to English. However, in the following months, we became involved with a complex mining case in the Commercial Court in Paris and an ongoing project which involved translating over 500,000 words into five languages for a healthcare client.

Leading worldwide organisations in the legal and insurance sectors now turn to Linguistico with their translation projects. We are even called upon to review and edit other translation companies’ translations.

Since then, Linguistico’s business has grown significantly and we have expanded into what are now our core areas of finance, insurance and legal translation, largely as a result of word-of-mouth recommendations from clients and a clear need in the market for someone to translate the tricky stuff.

We are constantly striving to find new ways to offer better value, service and translation quality to our clients and are currently developing some critical online systems to assist clients with their translation needs.

In addition, we opened our office in Europe in 2010, which gives us worldwide coverage and allows us to turn around urgent work for both Australian and European clients overnight.

We take great pride in what we do and in the translation company that we have built (and are still building), but have not lost sight of why the company started, our love of languages and the sense of fun in learning something new.
